Position Details
- Post Name: Counsellor (Psychiatric Social Worker)

- Nature of Appointment: Fixed-term contract for 2 years (extendable based on Institute requirements)
- Location: Main Campus, Gambheeram Village, Anandapuram Mandal, Visakhapatnam and/or City Campus at Andhra University precincts, Visakhapatnam
Educational Qualification
Essential Qualification:
- M.Phil in Psychiatric Social Work
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in counselling and therapy
Desirable:
- Experience in educational institutions
Skills Required
- Excellent communication skills with multilingual ability
- Knowledge of Telugu, English & Hindi (Preferred)
- Experience in counselling students aged 18–30 years
- Ability to handle emotional wellbeing and substance abuse cases
- Experience in individual and group counselling
- Sensitivity and ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds, including the LGBTQ+ community
Key Responsibilities
- Provide counselling services to students and support faculty/staff when required
- Serve as the primary point of contact for emotional and interpersonal counselling
- Maintain confidentiality while reporting critical cases appropriately
- Coordinate with students and families when necessary
- Support community linkage and student wellbeing initiatives
Salary & Benefits
- Consolidated Monthly Pay: ₹70,000/-
- No additional allowances applicable
- Health Insurance coverage for employee as per Institute norms
Age Limit
- Maximum 35 years as on the last date of application
- Age relaxation applicable as per Government of India rules
