Project Overview

The research aims to analyze pedestrian exposure to traffic on national highways and develop effective pedestrian crossing treatments. The study will contribute to safer road infrastructure design and policy recommendations aligned with national transportation safety goals.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be actively involved in both field and analytical components of the project, including:

  • Conducting field data collection on pedestrian movement and traffic behavior along highways
  • Performing traffic analysis and safety assessment in built-up areas
  • Developing and applying analytical and simulation models for pedestrian-vehicle interaction
  • Using tools like GIS, Python, or R programming for data analysis and visualization
  • Supporting behavioral modeling studies related to pedestrian risk and exposure
  • Preparing technical reports, research papers, and documentation
  • Assisting in the development of pedestrian crossing design solutions and recommendations
  • Coordinating with project investigators and stakeholders when required

Required Qualifications

  • B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering (First Class/Division)
  • M.E./M.Tech in Transportation Engineering (First Class/Division)
  • Preference will be given to candidates qualified in GATE

Desired Skills & Competencies

  • Knowledge of traffic engineering and transportation planning
  • Familiarity with traffic simulation software and modeling techniques
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as Python, R, or GIS
  • Good technical writing and communication skills

Fellowship & Benefits

  • ₹37,000/month (First 2 years)
  • ₹42,000/month (3rd year, based on performance)
  • Opportunity to register for a Ph.D. at NIT Warangal (as per institute norms)

Nature of Position

  • This is a temporary research position for a duration of 3 years
