The prestigious Birla Institute of Technology and Science Pilani invites applications for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under a DST Indo-Italy Joint Research Programme. This international research project offers an excellent opportunity for talented candidates to work on cutting-edge research in aging biology, immunology, mechanobiology, and lung disease research while collaborating with leading scientists from India and Italy.

The selected candidate will work under the guidance of Prof. Bibhas Roy and will collaborate with researchers from IFOM – The AIRC Institute of Molecular Oncology, one of Europe’s leading biomedical research institutes.
About the Research Project
Project Title
Identification of Crosstalk Between Mechanical Stimuli and Small GTPases to Enhance Aged Alveolar Macrophage Immunoefficiency
This interdisciplinary project focuses on understanding how mechanical signals influence immune cell functions in aging lungs. The research aims to uncover molecular mechanisms that can improve immune responses in elderly populations and contribute to the development of innovative therapeutic strategies for age-related lung disorders.

Fellowship & Benefits
Selected candidates will receive:
Monthly Fellowship
- ₹37,000 per month during Year 1 and Year 2
- ₹42,000 per month during Year 3
- 30% HRA as per applicable rules

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess:
- M.Sc., M.S., M.Tech. or equivalent degree in:
- Life Sciences
- Biomedical Engineering
- Biotechnology
- Molecular Biology
- Related disciplines
- Minimum 60% marks or equivalent CGPA.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates who have qualified:
- NET
- GATE
- CSIR-UGC NET
- DBT-JRF
- ICMR-JRF
- Other recognized national-level examinations
Desired Research Experience
Candidates with experience in the following areas will be preferred:
- Cell Biology
- Molecular Biology
- Microscopy Techniques

- High-Resolution Imaging
Knowledge of Python, R Programming, and Image Analysis tools will be considered an added advantage.
